The former Liverpool manager admits a return to coach Liverpool is theoretically possible.

The German coach, who left Anfield in 2024, indicated that returning someday is an option. The 58-year-old, following a hugely successful nine-year spell that included continental glory and the Reds’ first league title for three decades, currently occupies positions in a global football capacity with the Red Bull group and providing guidance with the German Football League.

Fan Sentiment and His Frank Comments

The club claimed the Premier League last season, yet numerous supporters who adore the manager would welcome the possibility of his potential comeback. During an extensive chat, he shared with Steven Bartlett: “I stated I refuse to lead any other side within the country. Therefore should it be the Reds...absolutely. It's plausible.”

“I’m 58, so I might decide later on, it's uncertain. Is a decision required immediately? Then I will not coach again. Luckily, no such pressure exists. I can just see how things unfold.”

Conditions for a Comeback

Pressed on which situations must arise to tempt his return to the touchline, he confessed he isn't eager to such a return. “I'm not entirely sure, I love what I do right now,” he stated. “I don’t miss coaching; I don’t miss standing in the rain through long matches; I don’t miss going to interviews repeatedly each week or constant media duties weekly.

“I don’t miss the dressing room per se, yet sharing a meal with the team enjoying conversation, I appreciate that. Success was frequent so there was often a very good mood in the building. I still have the captain's chuckle ringing in my ears as an instance.”

Commending Arne Slot

He spoke highly of the current boss, acknowledging his role for the tweaks which secured the championship in the previous season. Liverpool have lost four in a row in every contest following significant transfers, though he denied the idea it could be the start of a downward turn.

“[Liverpool have] a top-class attacker such as Wirtz, doubters will be silenced if you use the wrong words. An outstanding player. Ekitike, superb talent. They have a strong balanced team. No need for concern about Liverpool, things will improve.”

Emotional Tribute for the Late Forward

Klopp also spoke emotionally about the death of Jota, whom he brought in in 2020, and its impact on Liverpool. The forward lost his life in a vehicle collision with his brother this past summer.

“Can you substitute such an individual? This isn't just regarding his on-field talent, it’s the guy he was. I can’t imagine the squad missing him. Putting it into words is tough about it. A profound tragedy for the entire squad also. No one within the club would cite it for poor performances though it's a fact. You walk in a dressing room which he filled completely. Dealing with that individually is challenging. Overwhelming.”
