Supporters Urge Detainment of Person Who Seized Ariana Grande
Passionate fans of Ariana Grande are urging that a person who jumped a barrier and touched the actress during Thursday's Wicked: For Good launch be taken into custody or expelled from Singapore.
A circulating video shows the Australian man pushing past photographers and rushing toward Grande while the performers made its way down a promenade flanked by onlookers.
Co-star Cynthia Erivo quickly wrested the surprised actress away from Mr Wen, who was seen being removed of the gathering by security officers.
Mr Wen shared on Instagram late on Thursday that he was "released after being taken in", though court documents indicated that he was scheduled to appear on Friday morning. It is unknown if he was faced legal action.
History of Incidents
This is not the first time for Mr Wen, who calls himself a "Troll Most Hated", has crashed a performance. His Instagram feed contains clips of him interrupting other celebrity events, including jumping on stage at Katy Perry's Sydney show in June this year and in a comparable manner during The Chainsmokers concert in the city last winter.
"Steps should be implemented enforced against him as this is evidently a legal violation," stated an Instagram user, in a response to a video Mr Wen uploaded of his behavior.
"You've done this repeatedly... how are you not behind bars?" another Instagram user questioned.
Followers Show Disapproval Over Grande's Well-being
Several followers accused Mr Wen for "re-traumatising" Grande, who had discussed dealing with trauma-related anxiety after a terrorist explosion at the finale of her 2017 show in Manchester, claiming the lives of 22 people and wounding numerous individuals.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" commented a further comment on Instagram.
Some attendees also criticised guards at the Thursday event for not being adequately prepared; while different individuals demanded social media platforms to remove Mr Wen's videos.
Reaction and Premiere Information
In clips spreading on the internet, Grande appeared shocked when she was approached by the individual. Her fellow actors Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be observed consoling her while Mr Wen was removed by guards.
Grande has not issued a statement on the event, and the remaining proceedings carried on uninterrupted.
Many of fans had gathered in a crowd of emerald and rose at the Wicked: For Good Asia-Pacific premiere in a Singapore mall, including some who had waited for as long as many hours before it began.
The motion picture, to be launched on the 21st of November, is the sequel of a dual interpretation of the acclaimed stage show Wicked, which centers on the unexpected bond between two contrasting sorceresses.
The show itself is a derivative of the classic children's novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who portrays the character Glinda Glinda, was dressed in a rosé sparkling outfit at the event while Erivo, who acts as the Elphaba, wore a elegant ensemble featuring roses.
They were joined by cast member Jeff Goldblum.
The previous installment, Wicked, was the most successful motion picture of 2024 in the UK, and earned a dozen award recognitions, winning a pair for excellent wardrobe and artistic direction.
