Performer Denies Anti-Vaccine Position After Voicing Disputed Coronavirus Documentary
The acclaimed actor has given his narration to a new documentary that casts doubt on the safety of vaccines and praises ex- government figure RFK Jr.
The Film's Disputed Foundation
Titled "Plague of Corruption," the film is based on a popular book published by a controversial scientist, who gained notoriety during the pandemic for allegations that the illness was caused by a problematic version of the flu vaccine.
The book's co-author, a producer, has previously authored books with conspiracy-prone radio host the Infowars host. Heckenlively recently posted hailing Neeson's involvement in the documentary.
A Firm Statement
The team of Liam Neeson have provided a statement firmly refuting suggestions that he subscribes to anti-immunization sentiments.
"Everyone can acknowledge that corruption can exist within the pharmaceutical industry, but that should never be conflated with opposition to vaccines," the statement states. "He is not, and is not, anti-vax. His considerable work with the UN children's agency reinforces his long-held support for worldwide vaccination initiatives."
The response added that the actor had no hand in the documentary's editorial content and that questions about its assertions should be directed to the producers.
Key Themes Within the Feature
As presented, the voiceover provided by Neeson features several controversial statements:
- It suggests that pro-vaccine voices have insisted on "blind obedience" to public institutions.
- It argues that "research has become dangerously politicized."
- RFK Jr is interviewed stating, "The core flaw with vaccines is that they just aren't safely tested."
- The narration further attacks Covid lockdowns, saying they caused severe distress that led to the loss of thousands of lives.
- Regarding Covid vaccines, it references a perspective that they were "rushed to market" and seen as "risky trials."
Past Controversy and Recent Debates
The documentary includes a historical film about clinical trials on children, which was afterwards the subject of a BBC apology by the network for violations of guidelines.
Recently, the political figure called on the CDC to change its longstanding position that there is no connection between immunizations and autism spectrum disorder. This assertion is also referenced in the film, despite a new report from the WHO reiterating no evidence has been found.
An Earlier Record of Support
Differing from the film's message, Neeson has in the past voiced firm endorsement for vaccines in his role as a Unicef global ambassador.
In 2022, he called vaccines as "a remarkable human success story," noting that "The conversation about vaccines in the past few years has lost sight of how much positive impact they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest collective achievements in human history."
The film ends with Neeson's voice saying, "This is not the finish of our narrative. It is the dawn of a fresh chapter."
