American Military Conducts Deadly Strike in Eastern Pacific, Leading to Four Deaths
As stated by a senior military official, the American military executed a fatal kinetic engagement on a vessel in the Pacific Ocean, killing four individuals.
“A US joint task force conducted a deadly attack on a craft operated by a terrorist group in open sea. Intelligence verified the vessel was transiting along a known narco-trafficking route and was engaged in narco-trafficking operations. All four male drug traffickers were killed, and no American forces were injured.”
Background and Recent Actions
This announcement follows a day after an announcement regarding a blockade of all targeted oil tankers entering and leaving Venezuela. That statement on online platforms, the American leader accused Venezuela of using oil profits to fund narcotics smuggling and criminal activities, pledging to increase the military buildup.
Just on Tuesday, the Pentagon stated it had carried out strikes on three boats it accused of trafficking drugs in the Pacific, killing eight people. Beginning on 2 September, more than 20 strikes have resulted in the deaths of at least 99 people, the majority off the coast of Venezuela.
Government Justifies Actions Amid Pressure
The administration has faced growing demands to release video of a 2 September vessel attack. However, the defense secretary have declined to do so. The administration has defended its campaign as a success, arguing it has prevented drugs from entering US shores and has dismissed concerns that it is stretching the bounds of legal military action.
While the administration has stated the campaign is about halting drugs destined for the US, remarks from a top official appeared to confirm a wider geopolitical aim. In a recently published interview, the senior advisor remarked the leader “wants to keep on blowing boats up until Venezuela's president cries uncle.”
This indicates the military campaign may be linked to a push to remove Venezuela's sitting government.
